Mpumi Dhlamini (South Africa)

Multi-instrumentalist and acclaimed producer Mpumi Dhlamini; Multiple SAMA & METRO FM Awards nominee for Best Newcomer and Best Jazz Album (respectively)has performed and collaborated with likes of Proverb, Zwai Bala, Jimmy Dludlu, Lira and produced works for Wanda Baloyi, Brian Temba, Kabomo, Zama Jobe and Sphelelo Mazibuko; continuing to push the boundaries of genre-bending and sonic expression in the jazz world.

He has two studio albums (Combined Elements,& Note To Self); with Combined Elements, a subsidiary of Sony BMG, and a self-produced debut. Mpumi plays accordion, piano, saxophone, the Rhodes keyboard (and more) on the album. His 2nd album (Note To self )is completely self-contained, where he composed, produced, and played all the instruments including vocals, he featured Tshepo Tsotetsi on "A Night on The Moon and Skhumbuzo Mbhele on drums. He has featured as Music Director and Producer on many occasions; being Lira’s music director from 2009-2011 and directing her 2009 Celebration DVD which won SAMA's Best DVD, Music Director for SABC 1’s Live AMP in 2013 as well as Producer and Creative Director for Mzantsi Jazz Awards in 2020.
