As an independent artist, she toured Germany, Switzerland, and Austria on the Purple Velvet Tour in 2014 and has appeared in acclaimed productions such as MTV Shuga, Hustle, and the #SamsungOpenVerse Challenge. Her collaborations with artists like Bongani Fassie, iFani, and the Mzansi Youth Choir, as well as features in GQ, AfroPunk, and Nataal Magazine—which named her “the first lady of Durban hip hop”—have firmly established her as a cultural force.
As the founder of Heartistree Productions and Peace4 NPC, Lex leads impactful initiatives centered on arts-based community healing and social cohesion. She organizes free concerts in areas affected by violence and drug-related crime, combining activism and creative expression. Her project management skills span talent sourcing, event coordination, public relations, creative conceptualization, radio and podcast production, and broadcasting—exemplified in her 2021 role as producer and host of The Wealth and Wellness Show on Durban Youth Radio, which reached over 60,000 listeners.
In her work as a filmmaker, Lex has produced an upcoming independent film titled Father’s Seed in collaboration with Flip That Script and Lwazi Duma Entertainment, and has released The Lexikon 2.0 Project Mini Documentary. She also creative-directs and produces all her own music videos and is currently developing her first two feature-length film scripts.
Her career highlights include graduating from the Business and Arts South Africa (BASA) Cultural Producers Programme (2022), curating talent for Netflix’s Queen Sono and MTV Shuga Down South, and serving as a talent coordinating partner for Legends Barber in Durban (2023). In 2018, while working as a hostess at Living Room Jozi, she had the honor of hosting the exclusive Global Citizen afterparty for Jay-Z and Beyoncé in Maboneng.
Lex LaFoy continues to bridge art and activism, empowering communities through music, storytelling, and cultural programming that uplifts and transforms. She is a proud mother to her daughter Satiah and is currently pursuing her Honours in Community and Health Psychology.
