The theme for The Music Imbizo 2022?
Our theme for The Music Imbizo 2022 is: KUSHEREHEKEA AFRIKA – YALIYOPITA. SASA. BAADAYE. In English, it means “CELEBRATING AFRIKA – THE PAST.THE PRESENT. THE FUTURE”. The Sankofa bird became an obvious symbol for this. According to Wikipedia: “Sankofa is a word in the Twi language of Ghana that translates to “Go back and get it” and also refers to the Bono Adinkra symbol represented either with a stylized heart shape or by a bird with its head turned backwards while its feet face forward carrying a precious egg in its mouth.”
Where is the conference taking place? Is it virtual?
The Music Imbizo 2022 is NOT virtual. All activities will be hosted at the main venue (Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban – South Africa) from Tuesday 06 September till Sunday 11 September.
Who is speaking at this year's conference?
The Music Imbizo attracts some of the best speakers and panelists. We do our best to curate relevant content that speaks to the needs of the music industry. We also do an open call for those that might be interested to participate at different levels. The speakers for The Music Imbizo 2022 will be announced by mid-July.
What elements of The Music Imbizo will be taking place this year?
The Music Imbizo 2022 will be an opportunity for the conference to experiment and introduce new elements to what the conference is all about. The panel discussions, exhibitions, new music listening, video pitching, producer forum, songwriting workshops, master classes (film scoring) – will all still form part of The Music Imbizo 2022. For the first time, we are also adding a MOOT Court Competition, Hackathon and a Film Festival.

Workshop, master class and competition details will be updated on the website plus all our social media platforms. Our media partners will also carry the details. Be on the lookout for more details as we get closer to the conference.
How much is the ticket for The Music Imbizo 2022?
The Music Imbizo 2022 will be live and on-site at the Moses Mabhida Stadium. The pre-registration/early-bird tickets will be launched at R450.00. The Music Imbizo ticket is R600.00.
Two types of tickets for The Music Imbizo 2022 are available:
- DELEGATE – Main Ticket (R600.00), Pre-registration/Early Bird (R450.00).
- VISITOR – Visitor Ticket (FREE).
