GOVERNING THE MUSIC INDUSTRY – WHOSE BUSINESS IS IT ANYWAY?  … The music industry’s administration and governance remains a tricky subject. In some instances, music is the mandate of arts and culture – where arts and culture has no economic development aspect. Tourism uses music and events as a way to attract their audiences. Trade and industry monitors the use of copyright and intellectual property law. Then there is Small Business. Within the industry, there are numerous associations/collecting bodies/organizations plus forums that represent the different role players in the value chain. Globally, music is content and technology companies are running successful platforms worth billions of dollars. What is governance in the music industry? Is there a possibility of everything under one umbrella organization?

The The Music Imbizo 2019 is looking for speakers, researchers and industry players willing to contribute to the panel discussions, roundtables and presentations around the theme.
