Mpho Zetina Mosia is a multi-faceted and talented force. With an extensive background in music from the National School of Arts, where she studied Classical & Jazz… To further studies in Journalism/Psychology at the University of Witwatersrand, that cements this young talented-driven woman as an all-rounder in regards to Communications, Writing & the Arts. Over the last 7 years Mpho has been conceptualising/organizing & booking artists for a series of events called the Sound & Space Experience in prominent venues like 1Eloff, Nikki’s Oasis, The Good Luck Bar, J&B Hive, and in Durban’s The Jazzy Rainbow, whereby she collaborates with various jazz musicians, DJs on MPC, Live Action Painting, and Contemporary Movement Dancers, experimenting with interesting avant-garde and abstract ways of experiencing her music
As a musician Zetina Mosia travels with her electro-acoustic band having made waves on the Jozi live music scene for a few years now. She has been performing at various venues such as the Good Luck bar, Wits Theatre, The Great Hall, Drill Hall, House of Nsako, Afrikan Freedom Station, Shikisha, Kitchener’s Carvery. And events/festivals like Jammin’ ‘n Ting Festival, Fete De la Musiq Festival, Kool Out Live and the LETOFE Music Festival in Lesotho. She has collaborated and/or shared stages with some of South Africa’s well respected musicians like Tshepo Tshola, Oliver Mtukudzi, Mafikizolo, Stimela and Grammy nominated Syleena Johnson, Tshepo Tsotetsi, Mpumi Dlamini, Malcolm Jiyane, Zama Jobe, Gabi Motuba, Judith Sephuma, Khuli Chana and Canadian Indie cult band Bad Bad Not Good.
Zetina Mosia’s album, titled The RoundAbout,was released in 2015, by Iapetus Records. Electro-AfroFuturistic 7 Track EP entitled The B-Sides: Remixes & Reimaginings which started out with remixes of songs from her debut The RoundAbout but given her unsettling creativity. Both projects are available online at www.zetinamosia.bandcamp.com. She has also been featured on numerous projects for television and for artists compilations, such as ‘Ngempela’ on SABC1 and Mzansi Magic’s ‘Opening Guys’, where she wrote the Opening Song title sequences.
Currently Zetina is writing her 2nd Album and collaborating with producer and DJ Extraordinaire Eye-On-Feather as a Duo called LɔLɔ Amour, where their 7 track EP is due for release in 2020.
