KZN Hip Hop Legengs Forum (South Africa)

Ruma (Respect Unto My Ancestors) is a Durban born lyricist whose impact on the city’s rap scene in the mid 2000s influenced the current generation of vernacular rappers in KZN. Toi Toi – is the title of his first mixtape released in 2004 under Cross’iPhoyisa Produxionz. The 21 track mixtape would go for sale on Durban’s then reknowned record store, Premier, for an unprecedented R100 at the time. The single Ngasekhaya gained heavy rotation on local radio stations. This was the first Durban rap song to be aired on Metro FM by T-Bo Touch in 2005. Ruma was featured on a 2page article on Hype Magazine in March of 2005, ‘Durban’s Finest’ was the article’s title. Ruma has been active in KZN hip hop circles for more than 20 years. He’s currently a member of KZN hip hop legends forum. He’s also involved in grooming young talent through his Bra Wam Entertainment entity.

KZN Hip Hop Legengs Forum – is a collective of individuals who’ve been active in the KZN Hip Hop Community from its early stages till the current era. KZNHHL Forum seeks to preserve and enhance the rich heritage KZN hip hop. The collective of artists, producers, hip hop scholars and sponsors aims at creating solutions for the region’s hip hop industry in growth, production and monetary development.
