Sakifo Productions (Reunion Island)
Jérôme Galabert grew up in Reunion Island. A short stay in London in his early twenties allowed him to perfect his English while working. After this experience abroad, he returned to Reunion and became Head of Communication at the General Council of the island. Over time, he gained experience within several Event Production structures, until he decided to create his own company – Galabert Production – and organise the first ever concert of James Brown on the island in 1993, gathering 17,000 people all together.
He then joined the Regional Council as a project manager, in charge of promoting Reunion music.
Between 97 and 99, he kept on working on cultural issues and created a public theatre called « Le Séchoir », he directed until 2004, when he created the Sakifo Festival.
Today, he manages Sakifo Production, a live performance company created in 2005, which produces in addition to Sakifo Musik Festival, « Les Francofolies de la Réunion » and other upcoming projects.
On top of these activities, he is eager to keep on promoting and developping emerging bands from Reunion or elsewhere, whether through the Sakifo label or through editions and booking so as to bring to light the music he loves.
