How do they top a fairly successful 2019 conference that included over 120 speakers from over 30 countries, that interacted with just over 300 delegates on a daily basis? Candice Pillay delivering one of the most memorable and interactive keynoye speech. Ninel Musson of VTH Season sharing some insights into why they are the most trusted brand in the continent for grooming and building talent. Guest appearances by Nasty C plus numerous firsts like the hosting of the film scoring workshop by award winning Zethu Mashika. How can we not mention the Gear Expo … the gear expo was a marvel. Marsha Music Hillcrest, Glenwood Village Music, Musicians Gear Zone and TOMS The music producer forums hosted by THE KIFFNESS, Rude Boyz, Manqoba Mntungwa and Lastee (SELECT PLAY)? Free entrance to industry round tables on Hiphop, Maskandi and Gospel plus a talk on Artist Management? The showcases and much more that was the KZN Music Imbizo 2017? How do they top that?
KZN Music Imbizo 2018 has a very interesting theme (NO BORDERS – LET THE MUSIC TRAVEL). How does music travel in the 21st century? Music mobility remains one of the most important issues, especially in the continent. How do our audiences access and consume our music? What are the best ways to plan around these platforms? Talks will include in depth discussions on touring, music licensing, streaming, royalty collection, film scoring, advertising and other relevant topics.
More importantly, Sphe Mbhele (Project Manager) promises an improvement in the showcase element of the conference. “This will now become a very important aspect of the KZN Music Imbizo. We want to bring in the audience in their numbers. We will be doing our best to present some of our best artists in a way that would encourage local audiences to come out and support,” said Mr Mbhele.
